- Showing Off in Showmanship!
Here is “Riley” my daughters new horse. He is the result of many months of searching and a one hot trip to Illinois. We got him last year 10 day before the world show. You know when it is meant to be when everything works out. In that 10 , the sellers agreed to our purchase, a kind friend Tracy, agreed to haul him to the Worlds Show in Texas and all the money fell into place!
He is sired by Zip On Down a Multiple World Champion Site ( Sundown Q & Zippo Pine Bar Daughter) and his dam a quarter horse is Sonny Dee Bar and Two Eyed Jack close up bred. The breeder in me loves good breeding!
So from North Carolina to Colorado, amazing how horse shopping has evolved…no longer is distance an issue!
We picked him up at the worlds, you can see the Happy girl and Horse picture. Later on we took him over for thier Professional photos. See below.
This summer she has been taking lessons on him and felt ready to go to her first show. The First one in Wyoming was interesting because the Cow events has just taken place, cow smell was everywhere… it took him a little bit to adjust and then he got to work.
The next show was closer in Longmont Colorado and he was a champ. Sadly there were not other kids in her age, group, so the classes where combined, but it is good to have competition.
He is a natural mover, which after trying to get two other horses to move slow for western, is so nice. But better yet, slap some English Tack on him and out he goes. A true all around horse!
As a mom I LOVE this horse… my daughter is going out at various times of the day to adjust, change, his Clothing. You can tell he is well loved. All my blankets, sleezys and stuff has disappeared and reappeared on him and “has always been his” And through all seasons she is out riding him. With a teenage daughter who could at any point loose interest in the horse world, Riley to me is Equine Gold!
